Drowning Son

The sun was drowning in the sea,
and so was his little heart.
A little boy, on the sea shore,
exclaimed to his mother with a start.
"The sun is drowning in the sea,
why don't you go and save?
Before it gives in to the dark night,
and gets engulfed by the waves?"

The little boy's mother on the shore
couldn't help but give him a smile
She gave him a hug and a kiss
as he stared at her face awhile.
"The sun isn't drowning in the sea",she said,
"but going to it's bed for the day.
So that next day it can rise early
and flaunt his shiny rays."

A score and a decade later,
when the sun was drowning in the sea,
a lady old and bent,
almost unable to hear and see.
Reached for a phone on the table,
tapped a few no.s on the dial.
Longing to hear a familiar voice,
she couldn't help but smile.
Greeted with a voice message,
her hopes,crashed in vain.
None would realize what she was going through,
or fathom her agony and pain.
A score and a decade later,
a son was drowning in the sea.
In a sea of glitz and glamour,
that seized his power to see.

A score and a decade later,
it was his turn to answer queries.
Queries innocent,unaware,
of changes and senile miseries.
and instead of a patient reply,
he chose to trifle her question:
"Don't be impractical, Ma!"
resounded his inflection.
She had asked when he'd return,
home "sweet" home she assumed,
But a busy schedule was put to blame,
Every time this practice was resumed.

As the sun set that evening,
the day wasn't about to drown.
But a son sitting miles away,
in some glittering big town.
Her heart sank deeper and deeper,
A son she couldn't save.
Monies,they said,was riding on him,
while fame drowned him in it's waves.
