A Ballad to Myself

" Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before. "
-Edgar Allan Poe
It's an all encompassing feeling, this darkness. Sometimes it's heartbreaking , sometimes annoying, sometimes a deafening silence or an all silencing shout. But it's something all of us go through, in some phase of our life or the other. Something that none of us want to talk about. Because come on, talking about it makes us vulnerable, a coward , incapable of handling ourselves and what not. A shell that keeps hiding until it cracks open. A sky that keeps accumulating until it cries, raises a storm.

Somewhere down the line, running after "success", we forget what we are seeking. We forget that we are in fact letting go of all the happiness in pursuit of happiness!(?) We forget that a piece of mental peace is very very important and self love does not count for selfishness ( unless it's an obsession , of course).

The following poem is for all those souls who think they'll never find a way out of darkness , who underestimate the power of "live and let live", who think they are alone with no one to care for...Save thy tears.

A Ballad to Myself

A little love
Wrinkled smiles
From the corner of your eye
A falling tear
Calming the sting
Somewhere deep down
For muddled griefs
You’ve lost yourself somewhere in between.
Scars of self consciousness
And bags of sleeplessness
Reflecting someone you think is you
Fading to norms carved for her
Burning flesh
covered with darkness of uncertainty
And filled with love
Misused.

Too thick or too thin
They won't be there
Patches ugly
and A slut shamed body
Only if mankind was as good as you.
Leave them alone,
Shun the hissing hypocrite
Fill yourself with laughter,
Preachy they call you?
Oh they'll never know your worth,
The human and the humane, endangered.
Fill yourself with light
Fill yourself with love,
Because today it's only
You and me.
